Boudin Thief!

The waitress at the Boiling Point brought our food out and set it down on the table in front of us. Lily surveyed the spread before us, reached out and snatched one of Grand-Da's boudin balls and proceeded to eat a big bite out of it before the rest of us could say a word.

After we finished laughing at her bravery, Grand-Da confiscated his boudin and ate it--slobbery side and all, which left good little fourth-generation-Cajun Lily to eat her crawfish pistolette.

Yum!

Whistle Blowers

For lunch today, we ate at the Dairy Barn, a hamburger place whose owner LOVES trains--just like Lily. She was enthralled by his train track that circled the restaurant and talked about the trains for all of lunch (instead of eating her food)! When we left, the owner let Lily blow the train whistle. You can imagine how excited she was!

Lily & Grand-Da Eat Goldfish

Grand-Da: Would you like some goldfish, Lily?
Lily: yesh, pweaze!

Lily: For you?
Grand-Da: A goldfish? For me? Why thank you!

Lily: Where did fish go?

Grand-Da: (looks at me) these things are awful!
Lily: another one?

Grand-Da: (to Lily) Yum!

Buffalo Gap Historic Village

Today, we toured the Buffalo Gap historic village and learned about people and things the same age as our house.

We saw buffalo, a jail cell and more than a few spittoons. We got to play on old fashioned farm stuff, ride our first see-saw with Daddy, and pet a doggy AND a kitty. We even got to mail postcards to Noni & Grandma! It's been a good day!

Extra Special Added Bonus: the gallery in the Historic Village has a collection of original Mary Motz Wills watercolors. Mary Motz Wills is one of the daughters of the couple who built our house in the late 1880s. Charles Motz built the upstairs portion of our house as an addition for his artist daughters, Mary and Elsie Motz Lowden, a miniaturist.

Playing Surgeon

Nathan: (to Jarrod while holding toy pliers) I want to cut you.

Jarrod: but how will I hold Andrew? How will I make your juice?

Nathan: I want to cut you!

Nathan: can I check your temperature?

Jarrod: Sure. (Nathan climbs up, sticks in the thermometer) Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! You didn't say it was wet!!!

Singing our ABCs

Lily singing her ABCs:
"A B C D...4 5 6..."

Then she grabbed the L and ran off with it singing:

"L L L L L L L."
