Lily-isms Volume 2

On a Sunday morning, on the way to church:
Eric: Do you know where we are going Lily?
Lily: We go to DOUGHNUTS!

At her own birthday party:
Eric: Lily, would you like to open your presents now?
Lily: No. I want a cookie!

On the playground with the boys:
Andrew: (excited voice) Lily!!
Lily: No! MISS Lily!

At Cracker Barrel with Aunties Marnie and Julia:
Marnie: (telling story)
Lily: No Marnie talking! Lily talking! Lily talking to Mommy!

At Cracker Barrel with Aunties Marnie & Julia:
Lily: Where Noni go?
Mommy: She's at home.
Lily: No, Noni in the cup.
Mommy: Are you drinking tea with Mommy, like Noni does?
Lily: Uh-huh. Where Grand-Da?
Mommy: He's home with Noni.
Lily: No. Not home. They in the phone!

Marnie sniffs the air and wrinkles her nose. Eric and Emerald look at each other, silently arguing over who will change the child's diaper.
Eric: Lily, who do you want to change your diaper?
Lily: (looks around the room) Want Aunt Marnie change diaper!!
Eric: (as Auntie Marnie reluctantly takes the child upstairs) We couldn't have trained her to say that!

Bibbity-Bobbity-Whack

Lily got a pretty cute outfit from Grandma and Grandpa for her birthday.

But she's a menace with that wand. She turned me into..

..a frog!

Mini-Happy Birthday Lily

My baby is two years old. It's quite difficult to wrap my head around.

We spent the Saturday before her birthday in Richardson shooting Alex & Meagan's wedding and Sunday in Arlington attending Nathan's birthday party, but Uncle Alan and Aunt Angel took care of making sure Lily felt special on her birthday! They took her swimming and to the balloon store where she picked out a Dora the Explorer balloon and fed her Mac N Cheese and homemade peach ice cream and let her take a bubble bath in their bathtub (now when we read a story with a picture of a baby in a bath tub, Lily says, "Lily play with Aunt Angel now? In the bubbles?"). They even bought her an adorable dress for her birthday which she got to wear to Nathan's party.

Thank you SO MUCH Uncle Alan and Aunt Angel for spoiling our daughter on her birthday!!

Lily-isms (volume 1)

Now that Lily has honed her ability to communicate, I'd like to steal an idea from my friend Andie's blog and share some of the ridiculous (or cute) things she says.

At Olive Garden over dinner:
Daddy: Lily, who is in charge here? Lily or Mommy?
Lily: (looks at me) Mommy...(she pauses for effect)...no charge! No charge Mommy!

At lunch with the boys:
Me: eat your food, please, Lily.
Lily: Dat not food, Mommy. Dat strawberries.

As mommy walks by Claire holding a dirty diaper:
Claire: (at attention, ears perked up, tracking the diaper with her eyes)
Lily: uh-uh, Claire! No! Don't eat it! Eeeeeeewwwwwwww!
Claire: (puts nose back on paws and sighs)

On the day we had our triple doctor appointment, I asked Lily if she would like to go to the doctor.
Lily: Yes, Mommy, I go to doctor.
Me: ok. Let's go. (I set Taevin down, from my lap to the floor, to get our things ready to go)
Taevin: maniacal wailing
Lily: mommy? Make Taevin go to doctor too!

Lily sneezes. She looks around, but no one says anything.
Lily: Bless you, Me!!

Cookie and Andrew are riding with us in the truck.
Cookie: Lily, you're beautiful.
Andrew: ::squeals with displeasure::
Cookie: Andrew, you're beautiful too. (Andrew smiles)
Lily: No, no Cookie! Beautiful Me!!

At Cracker Barrel, while looking at the toys, Lily spies a pair of black glasses with bushy eyebrows and a big nose attached.
Lily: ::pointing at glasses:: Grandpa!!
(at which point, several patrons and staff members all crack up and run to tell their friends what the little girl said)

Grandma Jan showed up for Lily's birthday visit with a stress fracture in her foot and, consequently, wearing a "boot" to help it heal.
Grandma: Good morning! How is Lily?
Lily: Where other shoe go?

Bonding time with Claire Bailey

Since the day we brought Lily home from the hospital, Little Lady Claire has adored her. And what's not to adore, especially for a dog with a keen nose and a desire to consume the "stankiest" un-edibles possible? Unfortunately for Claire, Lily doesn't see the finer points of being dog-licked from head to toe or having her sippy cups stolen and turned to confetti in the backyard. So, up to this point, Claire still adores Lily, but they really aren't friends.

Lily discovered, however, that, unlike Mommy, Claire actually enjoys being brushed by Lily. Claire actually listened to Lily every time Lily demanded she sit, and stayed to have her belly scratched and her fix of attention from Lily, two years (in Claire's mind) overdue.

Night night?

I'm confused. They all three are requesting to nap at 11:30am? Who are these children and where did the real ones go?

Riding the Zoo train with Daddy

Lily and I LOVE Eric working for ACU. For me it means access to their new super-cool gym facilities. For Lily it means ACU plans super-cool family events like a trip to the Zoo with dinner, cookies, and a free train ride! I'm not sure which one of them was more excited about the train though--this was Eric's first time to ride.

Yay ACU for being the best employer ever!!
